Deschutes River Trip 7-09

I was lucky enough to get to angle with my long time buddie Mike Boyd the first week of July.  Mike Boyd, or O’l Dirty Boyd owns Deschutes River Outfitters and does a great job of educating, entertaining, and most importantly putting clients on lots of BIG FISH!  We floated from Trout Creek to Harpum Flats for 3 beautiful days on the Mighty DESCHUTES RIVER!

The spring and summer produce native redside trout with the highlight coming mid may to the first part june and HUGE Salmon Fly HATCHES!  The redsides go nuts and are easy to pick off with a well placed cast!  July,August, and September offer massive caddis fly hatches with cool opportunities in riffles and back eddies!

The best part gets started Bocktober til you can not stand the cold weather!  Yes that is correct Steelhead on the FLY!  Spey rods and swinging articulated leeches, or better yet skating a bug and watching a 10 lb Steelhead BLOW UP!  I can hardly wait!  Dirty,  thanks for another awesome trip and see ya in November.
